Our History
Founded in the year 2000 in the Middle East, Gilgal Biblical Seminary began as a humble theological study centre with a clear burden: to provide accessible, high-quality theological education for Christians living and working in the Arabian Peninsula.
The vision was given to Dr. K.O. Mathew, who recognized that many believers in the region had limited opportunities for structured theological training. Surrounded by a diverse expatriate Christian community representing multiple cultures and denominations, he saw the urgent need for a seminary that would be academically sound, spiritually vibrant, and mission-focused.
With faithful support from his wife, Mrs. Valsa Mathew, and continued leadership from Bishop Shan Mathew, GBS grew into a respected international seminary. Today, students from more than fifteen denominations and multiple nations study through its programs, including learners from Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America.
Over the years, GBS has expanded its reach through hybrid and online education, enabling students worldwide to receive theological training without leaving their ministry contexts.
